  I work nearby and have eaten here 3-4 times (there will be many more). The staff is very nice, though there is an occasional language barrier for me. Everyone is friendly - the chefs will chat with you if you're sitting at the counter - and the waiting staff is very attentive to little things like drink refills.
  Simply said, I love the food. They serve this weird little appetizer salad that I could eat about 2 pounds of: mixed greens with a yellow ginger dressing and two bites of fried whitefish on top. It's a great starter. If I'm here in the early afternoon, I get the 2- or 3-choice lunch. Miso soup is deep and buttery, not too heavy with tofu and onion and seaweed. Teriyaki beef is well done, not at all drowning in sauce. Rice is perfect. Gyoza is super crunchy and just a little spicy with onions. Mixed tempura is light and crunchy.
  Prices are about the same as other sushi places, though Tampopo doesn't have AYCE that I can tell and they don't offer some of the deeper discounts on lunch and happy hour that you see at other places.

  My most fav sushi place
  They accommodate me so much with my specifics!
  Today I tried the vegetable tempora roll with no crab it was ahhhmaaazzzinggg
  I love this place more than any other sushi place

  I have been coming to Tampopo for over 8 years now and never thought I'd write a review. For years, the service, food, etc was excellent. But, over the past year or so they service has gone significantly down. There are new chefs and servers that don't seem to have a clue. I will come in when it's super slow and still receive poor service. I'm actually here right now and have been sat for over 5 minutes without my water. Ridiculous. I've givin this place thousands of dollars and unfortunately now this place is terrible. I must say, the food is still great but service is absolutely dog shit. Bummer, grew up in East Lake eating at this place weekly for years, not anymore..

  Tampopo has been apart of my families history! I've been going here sense I was in the single digits and now I'm getting closer and closer to my 40s! I loved it as a kid and even as an adult I still appreciate their kindness and delicious food!
